Self-assesment

Teaching kindergartners was such a wonderful experience; I did my best on it! Putting into practice what I learned in this subject was not that difficult for me. At the beginning, I think that it was a little bit difficult to handle with 38 kids at the same time. It was kind of scary and challenging, but interesting at the same time. I like challenges, so I decided to do my best to teach my students.

I planned every single lesson with so much effort because I wanted my kids have a wonderful experience every single class. I looked for some songs, games, flashcards and all that stuff in order to bring them the best for their English classes. I went to teach them on Tuesday and Thursday, one hour each day, but I thought that it was not enough because we really enjoyed our time together. The weeks passed by, they showed me that they really liked English. I got along with them in such a fantastic way; I loved being with them. When I was teaching, I forgot all my problems; I did really love it! Each of my little troublemakers was very special; each one has a different quality that makes him or her unique. I had very kind, polite, smart, funny, and lovely students. They were always eager to do and to learn new things every class.

My last day with them was kind of sad but it also was very special. I remember that we did a review of all the topics we had studied. I asked them, and they answered very well. I noticed that they really learned. We were so happy; we were playing, singing and doing many things that day. Unfortunately, it was time to say goodbye to my babies! I brought them some candies; they were happy about it. They did not want to say goodbye, but they understood the situation. They said goodbye, but they also say “We love you, teacher Patty”. When I heard that, I was so grateful! I said “I love you, too! I will never forget you my kids.”

What I learned along the semester in this subject was very helpful. I think that I learned how to be a good teacher, but this was just the beginning. What is coming is going to be even more difficult that teaching children was, but I think that I will make it! I will become a great English teacher.

I can say that taking this subject was such a great adventure and a very fruitful experience. I have to say Thank you, teacher Edgar for being there giving us part of your wide knowledge about teaching. Thanks for your patience and for all you did for us, our students. It was a pleasure to be in Didactics of the English Language I with you.
